NYC based start-up, Her Agenda, featured author and entertainment journalist Danyel Smith for a talk about being a female rockstar in creative careers.
Her Agenda inspires real women through stories, resources, and events to highlight the information needed to achieve success. Their goal is to empower women to not let anything stop them from reaching their goals.
Danyel Smith, who’s made influential strides at publications like Billboard and Vibe magazines, is also a praised author of the female experience as culture creating professionals. Her latest project, HRDCVR, a magazine for the “new everyone”, is set to release this summer. She partnered with her husband personality and RapRadar.com editor, Elliott Wilson, to make this project a collaborative work embodying journalism and the cultural storytelling that is often overlooked.
What did Danyel teach us? Taking a risk (or two) is okay, but as women, they must be well calculated. Some times you just have to go for it. And even if it doesn’t work out the first time, hold your head low and keep pushing.
The ladies laughed and shared sentiments as Smith was transparent about how she became the powerhouse that she is as a writer, breaking down barriers, and taking risks in her industry. And since she’s such a force to be reckoned with, Éccolo gifted her our infamous “Plans for World Domination” journal. We didn’t leave any one out. All attendees went home with an inspirational goodie bag including our new “Moments of Genius” notepad.
