DIY: The Cultured Lens Travel Diary goes to Vegas
Instead of doing the tropical thing for our honeymoon, Rob & I decided to take an All-American Roadtrip!
My husband and I have traveled the world, but nothing beat traveling with him for the first time as his wife! Our honeymoon was full of fun and adventure, tons of sightseeing, and amazing food. Best part? We were still madly in love after our 10-day trip.
Destination: Las Vegas
One of my favorite parts about Vegas was Fremont Street, otherwise known as downtown or Old Vegas. It's the Vegas from the old movies with the crazy lights and signs. Rob and I went downtown to enjoy the cheap gambling tables in old smoky casinos. The vibe downtown was a bit sketchy and kitschy. But it added to the charm. It was like a trip back in time. But after hours of smoky casinos and old people it was time to go.
I'm always photographing our shadow. It's fun and I find shadows to be intriguing. We walked all the way down to Mandalay Bay Hotel. I don't remember why. All I remember is being hot and stopping to catch our breath. I spotted our shadows holding hands and snapped a photograph. I hope they didn't mind.
Although I truly enjoyed sitting at slot machines for hours at a time, we decided to take a cultural field trip to our favorite museum in Vegas. It's a sort of retirement home for old Vegas signs called The New Museum.
We had a blast on the tour, but we were ready to go because it was hot outside. And I was ready for another round at the slot machines.
